Marry Me Burger Skillet with Smoked Mozzarella Recipe
There's a reason this recipe has "Marry Me" in the name, and after one bite, you'll understand exactly why.
Inspired by the viral Marry Me Chicken, this skillet takes everything you love about that creamy, cozy dish and builds it around a juicy Burger instead. Seasoned patties simmer in a rich sun-dried tomato cream sauce with earthy mushrooms and fragrant herbs, all finished with melty smoked mozzarella that stretches with every spoonful. Serve it straight from the skillet with a torn piece of crusty bread and prepare for the kind of reaction that makes cooking feel worth it.
This is the dinner you make when you want to genuinely impress someone, a date night that feels restaurant-worthy without the reservation, a Sunday dinner that turns into a family favorite, or a dish you bring to a dinner party and immediately get asked for the recipe. It's warm, it's rich, and it's the kind of meal that lingers in the best possible way, at the table and in conversation long after the plates are cleared. One skillet. Maximum impact.

1. Cook the mushrooms: Heat an enamel-coated skillet or other large skillet with a lid over medium heat. Melt the butter, then add the mushrooms. Cook until deeply browned and tender, about 10–12 minutes. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then transfer the mushrooms to a plate.
-
2. Brown the Burgers: In the same skillet, cook the burger patties for about 2–3 minutes per side, just until browned but not fully cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
-
3. Build the sauce: Add the onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 4–5 minutes. Stir in the garlic, smoked paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
-
4. Add the tomatoes and broth: Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and thyme. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Simmer for 3–4 minutes.
-
5. Finish with cream: Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Return the mushrooms to the skillet and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
-
6. Return the Burgers: Nestle the burger patties back into the sauce and continue cooking until the burgers are cooked through.
-
7. Melt the cheese: Top each Burger with smoked mozzarella. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
8. Garnish and serve: Finish with fresh basil and serve hot with plenty of crusty bread for soaking up the sauce.
