Classic Chopped Cheese

A classic NYC bodega must-eat, the Chopped Cheese sandwich is chopped beef with your choice of cheese and topped with lettuce and tomatoes. One of the best things about Chopped Cheese sandwiches besides the ooegy gooey cheese is being able to add whatever you want! Want it spicy? Chop in jalapenos, spicy peppers or hot sauce. Want some crunch? Add in some chips! The possibilities are endless.

  1. 1. Toast your sub roll and set aside
  2. 2. Add olive oil to a pan on medium high heat. Once oil is heated, add in onions and sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. 3. Add in ground beef and start "chopping".
  4. 4. When ground beef is no longer pink, add the cheese. Once the cheese starts to melt, chop it up to incorporate the cheese.
  5. 5. Add mayo to the top of the sub roll. Carefully add beef to the bottom roll then top with tomatoes and lettuce. Enjoy!
