It is a simple Italian dish that features only a few ingredients, including black pepper and Pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese. Those are the perfect elements to create a delicious sauce for your Burger. The sauce will be rich and cheesy, adding a new dimension of flavor to your beef. If you’re looking for another way to enrich the taste, add a pinch of nutmeg!
The simplicity is the strength of the pasta dish and the Burger, the few ingredients used for the sauce will give it a complex and intense flavor. Giving the classic American flavor of a Burger an Italian twist and is something you won’t regret.

- 2 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Milk Whole or half-and-half for a richer sauce
- 2/3 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 Pinch Nutmeg Optional for extra flavor
- 2 Patties Schweid & Sons Signature Blend
- 2 Buns Seeded Burger Buns Toasted
- First, make the parmesan pepper sauce. Prepare the Roux: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously until a smooth paste forms. Cook the roux for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent it from burning.
- Add Milk: Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Keep whisking until the mixture is smooth and thickened, resembling a creamy sauce.
- Once the sauce has thickened, add the grated Parmesan cheese a handful at a time and continue stirring, until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Stir in the freshly ground black pepper and salt to taste. Optionally, add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed.
- Allow the sauce to simmer gently for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, to meld the flavors together and ensure the sauce is the desired consistency. While the sauce is simmering, cook Burger patties to desired temperature and toast your buns.
- Assemble Burger by placing on a bun and adding as much parmesan pepper sauce as your heart desires. Enjoy!
