A Burger Bucket List

Did you know that depending on where you are in the US, you can expect a different Burger to be popular?? How big of a Burger lover are you? Big enough to build a Burger bucket list, go on a Burger quest, and see how each section prepares its Burgers? Let us give you a glimpse into what you may find.

The Northeast

The first stop on your Burger bucket list must be the Northeast! Some say this is the birthplace of the modern Burger, so expect to find classic Burgers in this neck of the woods. The classic LTO (lettuce, tomato, and onion) are staples for a “regular” Burger in this region of the US. Sliders and Smashburgers have grown in popularity here, too. Smashburgers have taken this region by storm with crispy, but still juicy, thin patties that become caramelized when smashed onto a griddle. Even if you’re not traveling in the area, you can easily make this classic Burger recipe at home.

The South

This region is a must-go-to for your Burger bucket list! It’s a slower pace in this part of the country and folks are all about comfort food. If you’re looking for hardy food that will leave you satisfied after any meal, this is the place to go. You’ll find sauces (both sweet and savory) and unexpected combinations. Oh, and if you’re in the southwest, expect spicy. People and establishments in this region create some of the most savory Burgers, bacon and BBQ sauce are musts here. Don’t be surprised if a fried egg is thrown on top, too. Try this drool-worthy southern-inspired Burger and let us know what you think 😉

The Midwest

The middle of the country is not necessarily an area of focus when people think about Burgers. However, the Midwest offers a hearty take on the classic American staple. Barbecue, cheeses galore, and pretty much anything fried! If you love bacon on your Burgers, the Midwest can be credited with this creation. You can thank a man by the name of Dale Mulder, out of Lansing, Michigan, who had the great idea of slapping bacon on top of a Cheeseburger in 1963. Try this loaded Burger to test the waters (and maybe a nap after).

The West Coast

To wrap up your Burger bucket list trip, you must hit the West Coast! Anywhere in California, or its neighboring Pacific-facing states, you may find avocado on your Burger (or sprouts, or kale, or
you get the idea). Avocados add creaminess to your bite and balance out the richness of a Burger. We love this avocado Burger recipe right from our very own Schweid & Sons kitchen.
