Fresh Taco Bowls
Itâs time for taco bowls!! Summertime meals long for ripe, fresh, and colorful ingredients to enhance the flavors and textures of your dish. Whether you have a garden of your own or a local farmerâs market, get out there and grab the essentials to make a delicious and fresh taco bowl.
So, what ingredients do you need to make a great taco bowl?
The Basics
- High-Quality Ground Beef
We have you covered here! Grab a pack of Schweid & Sons 1lb Signature Blend Brick or our Butcher’s Blend 1lb Brick. Our ground beef has a pure beef flavor because of no added fillers in the meat, exuding a delicious bite every time. Don’t forget to drain the excess fat from the beef for a lighter and cleaner flavor profile. When choosing your taco seasoning, be sure to choose one that will compliment the taste of your ground beef.
- Tortillas
Add a little crunch to your taco bowl! Line the bottom of your bowl with tortilla chips so they can absorb all of the flavor in every scoop. You can also break them up and add them on top for a subtle crunch in every bite! If you’re feeling fancy, grab a tortilla and make your own tortilla bowl.
- Rice
We recommend rice but understand if you want a lighter bowl. Pick whichever rice you prefer! There’s basmati, brown, long-grain, just to name a few. You can make your own cilantro lime rice, or go for a pre-packaged saffron yellow rice.
- Lettuce
This is a taco bowl must to add freshness to your layered creation. You can shred it or chop it, there’s no wrong way! In addition to the freshness, this will help give your bowl a pop of color and texture.
- Tomatoes
Tomatoes are a staple ingredient in Mexican cuisine to provide extra flavor, a new texture, and a bright, fun color! Chop them up and throw them in as is, or create your own pico de gallo recipe!
- Guacamole
Guacamole is also a staple in Tex-Mex cooking styles. The guacamole adds a depth of flavor that compliments your ground beef. It is also the perfect side to dip your chips into!
- Sour Cream
Not everyone loves sour cream, but if you do, it is a great topping for a taco bowl! Consider mixing it with some salsa for a little something extra.
- Shredded Cheese
Shredded cheese on top of your taco bowl is a mouthwatering view. Use a store bought Mexican blend or shred your own favorite kind.
The Extras
The opportunities are endless, don’t stop there! You can add even more flavor and texture with additions like these:
- Corn (from a grilled cob is best)
- Beans
- Red Onions (raw or pickled)
- Jalapenos
- Cilantro
- Lime
- Chipotle Mayo
The Taco Bowl Build
Whether you are using a real bowl or a tortilla bowl, begin layering your ingredients! Start with a layer of rice, then your meat, then all of the colorful toppings! The best part about a taco bowl is that you can customize it however you like.
