Weeknight Favorite: Schweid & Sons Bolognese Sauce

Bolognese is not a typical weeknight meal you go to when you’re trying to get a hearty and filling dish on the table for the family. We know you’re thinking that you need to cook the sauce for a long time to achieve that deep flavor. Well, we want to change your mind! Starting with robust and flavorful beef adds the depth that you would normally get from hours of cooking in only 30 minutes. Give this quick & easy Bolognese sauce a try – we are sure it will end up in your weekly rotation.

  1. 1. In a large saucepan, heat olive oil on medium heat. Once hot, carefully add in carrots, celery and onions and sauté for 3 minutes or until almost tender.
  2. 2. Add the Schweid and Sons Butcher's Blend Ground Beef and ground pork and cook until browned. Break up the meat as it cooks.
  3. 3. Pour in the sauce and add in salt, pepper, garlic powder and sugar. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will start to thicken.
  4. 4. Once the Bolognese sauce reaches your desired consistency, stir in the heavy cream and remove from heat.
  5. 5. Serve over pappardelle or wide noodles and top with grated Parmesan cheese.
