The Cattle Call – Interview with Geoffrey Zakarian Restaurateur, and Food Network Host

The Cattle Call – All the beef that’s behind the people who make & connect us to the Burgerverse.

Geoffrey Zakarian is a chef, a foodie, and a father. When he isn’t home celebrating the culture of food with his family, he is attending to his restaurants: The Lambs Club, The National, Ocean Blue, The Palm Court, and The Water Club at Borgata. He is a Food Network favorite on the hit shows Chopped, The Kitchen and Iron Chef and is the Chairman City Harvest’s Food Council. He is a man of many talents, but eating burgers is definitely at the top of that list.

Name: Geoffrey Zakarian

Where do you live: Manhattan, New York, NY

Favorite style of Burger: Plain, with red onions on toasted white bread.

Favorite Childhood Burger: Same.

Burger that haunts your dreams at night: I sleep soundly.

What is the one Burger you’ve always wanted to try but still have not: Bobby Flay’s.

The secret to making a great Burger:  Large grind, plenty of fat and kosher salt.

Under no circumstances whatsoever, what should NEVER be put on a Burger: Anything pressing it down with weight.

If you could have a Burger with anyone alive, or dead, fictional or real, who would it be and where would you take them: I would take Milton Friedman to P.J. Clarke’s.

Please use this space to talk about or plug anything else you want:  Geoffrey’s newest cookbook, My Perfect Pantry, is available nationwide in stores and online.

We’ve hand selected Geoffrey to be one of the official judges for the 2015 South Beach Wine & Food Festival® Amstel Light Burger Bash presented by Schweid & Sons and hosted by Rachael Ray.
