Spotlight Celebrity Burgers: Gordon Ramsay’s Perfect Burger
Culinary inspiration comes from everywhere, including celebrity chefs around the globe. Next up in our celebrity Burger series is Gordon Ramsay’s idea of the Perfect Burger. Gordon says the key to the Perfect Burger is a great color and a great sear. To understand the science behind getting the perfect sear, read our blog here! A practice Ramsay enforces for a Burger, and all types of cooking, is the seasoning. Make sure you season both sides of your Burger with salt and pepper but don’t forget to season your toppings, too!
What You’ll Need
- Schweid & Sons The Butchers Blend 5.3oz Burgers
- Butter
- Red onion
- Cheddar cheese slices
- Butter lettuce
- Pickles
- Tomato slice
- Bun of choice (toasted)
- Mayonnaise
- Dijon mustard
- Salt & pepper
The Burger Build
Start with The Butcher’s Blend Burgers and cook them to the temperature you desire. Season your beef before you put the Burger into the pan. Ramsay elevates his Burgers by adding in about 1 Tbsp of butter during the cooking process. After you’ve flipped your Burger and allowed the other side to caramelize, start to baste the Burger with the existing butter, oil, and excess fat that is in the pan. The idea is to get all that flavor and deliciousness back into the Burger.
After basting that side, flip again and add more butter to prepare for your onions. Push your Burger to the side to make room for your onions while allowing your Burger to continue cooking. (But make sure you don’t overcook it!) Season your onions and let them cook to a golden brown. Flip and finish cooking your onions.
As your onions develop that delicious caramelization, salt your Burger again and add a slice of cheddar cheese. Ramsay salts the cheese and adds a second slice of cheddar. The more cheddar the better! If you’re thinking of salt again, you’re right, Gordon salt and peppers that slice of cheese too! Turn off the flame and add a lid to your pan to get the perfect melt to your cheese. Now grab your bun and get to work! Ramsay suggests toasting your bun for an extra crunch and texture. Add mayonnaise to your base and start building.
Grab your lettuce and if you’re using butter lettuce, crack the stem and lay it on the mayo. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, you’re going for the ultimate flavor! Add your tomato and pickles to incorporate the acidity into the flavor experience. A thin layer of Dijon mustard goes on the top bun and now it’s time for the Burger! Stack the Burger on top of the pickles and grab your caramelized onions to place atop your mouth-watering meal. The only thing left is to enjoy your delicious, and as Gordon Ramsay would call it, Perfect Burger!
