Spotlight Celebrity Burgers: Giada De Laurentiis’ Game Day Burger

We’re turning to Giada De Laurentiis for Burger inspiration for our next game-day get-together! The goal? To get a fresh, juicy Burger that will please the entire crew as you cheer on your favorite team.

The Game Day Burger is your best bet to be a crowd-pleaser this season and one of the key elements of this Burger is the pickled onions. Tossing your slightly grilled red onions in balsamic vinegar and sugar adds acidity and a smokey flavor.

Football is a team sport, and making The Very Best Burger is no different. All the ingredients need to work together to create the perfect taste. The beef is your quarterback driving the ship, while the onions and avocado mash are the running backs and wide receivers that give the team some fun & flavor. The onions bring a tanginess and sweetness that complements the savory beef and creaminess of the avocado spread making it a well-balanced team.

What You’ll Need

  • Schweid & Sons The Prime Burger 5.3oz patties
  • Red onion
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • Provolone cheese slices
  • Arugula
  • Tomato slices
  • Hamburger buns (toasted, optional)
  • Salt & pepper

The Game Day Burger Build

Pair our Prime Burger with pickled onions and avocado mash to elevate and excite your next watch party. Start by slicing and peeling your onions and avocados and then set aside. Place your sliced onions in a hot grill pan with olive oil and salt. Cook for a few minutes and then remove from the pan. Mix the onions with balsamic vinegar and sugar, cover, and leave at room temperature for 10 minutes. Season your Burgers and get them on the grill.

While they cook, begin preparing your avocados. For the spread, mix diced avocados, lemon juice, salt, and pepper flakes. Not only will it add flavor, but the lemon juice specifically will help slow down the process of browning. Don’t overmix!

Check on your Burgers and add cheese for the last minute of cooking. Finish cooking to your desired doneness. On a toasted bun, layer fresh arugula, the Burger patty, tomato slices (seasoned), pickled onions, and top with the avocado mash. Place the top of the toasted bun on and enjoy 🙂
