Do Judge a Burger by Its Package: A Deep Dive Into Schweid & Sons Packaging

You have many choices when shopping for Burgers and Ground Beef at your local grocery store. At Schweid & Sons, we strive to make our packaging attractive, easy to read, and full of information that matters to our customers. It’s not just a wrapper; it’s truly a treasure trove of information designed to help you select the best meat for your next culinary creation.

So here’s what to look for in Schweid & Sons Burger packaging…

The Front

The front of a package is really your first glance at flavor, and a snapshot of what’s inside.

  • The band of color at the top of the packaging denotes the blend of beef. Each color is thoughtfully assigned to a specific blend, making it easy to spot your favorite or discover a new one.
  • Directly under the band of color is the name of the product and a written description specifying the cuts of beef. This ensures that you know right off the bat exactly what high-quality cuts of beef are included in the product.
  • Next, you will see a unique steer outline that graphically illustrates precisely where the cuts of meat were sourced on the animal to create the ground beef in your package. This visual guide offers a deeper understanding of the quality and origin of your Burger.
  • Printed across the middle of the clear plastic window is the Use By/Freeze By Date. This date ensures you’re getting the best quality from our Burgers. If you plan to enjoy them soon, cook by the “use by” date for peak freshness and flavor. If you’re not cooking right away, just pop the package in the freezer before that date to lock in quality. Once frozen, we recommend eating them within 3-4 months.
  • The lean-to-fat ratio is highlighted on the bottom left corner of each package. For a richer and more indulgent blend, opt for our 75/25 blend. For a perfectly juicy Burger that is ideal for grilling, our 80/20 blend is your go-to.
  • The bottom right of the package highlights quantity and quality assurance. Here you will find the weight and quantity of the product clearly stated—for instance, “Four – 5.3oz/patty.” All products are proudly inspected and passed by the USDA, guaranteeing the highest standards of safety and quality.

The Back

Flip the package over, and you’ll discover more essential information and beyond.

  • The comprehensive nutritional panel provides all the necessary information to make informed choices, especially for those mindful of their dietary intake. Here is where you will find your protein content!
  • Schweid & Sons provides clear cooking instructions to help you achieve a perfectly cooked Burger. But remember that you can always prepare your Burger to your desired internal temperature, ensuring it’s exactly to your liking.
  • A QR code is conveniently located on the back of the packaging so that you can easily navigate to the Schweid & Sons website for a wealth of additional information. This includes blog articles, recipes, and in-depth details about Burgers, ground beef, and the Schweid & Sons legacy.

Side Panel One: The Schweid-o-Meter

  • You will find concise bullet points that offer specific product highlights. This includes features and benefits of the particular blend you’ve chosen, making it easy to understand.
  • We rate each of our Burgers on what we call the Schweid-o-Meter. This exclusive feature provides a visual representation of the beef flavor, tenderness, and marbling in the Burger blend you’ve picked up. It’s an intuitive way to understand the inherent characteristics of each burger. For instance, higher fat marbling on the Schweid-o-Meter means the meat is infused with more flavor, moisture, and tenderness.

Side Panel Two: Schweid & Sons Company History

  • Our company story spans four generations. We love sharing our journey with our customers and leaning on our rich history as purveyors of high-quality ground beef. This panel is where you can learn about the dedication, passion, and expertise that have gone into crafting The Very Best Burger.
