2023 SOBE Burger Bash
Another year, another successful Burger Bash event at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in February. This year, we were joined by festival favorite – Emeril Lagasse and to get the party started, a special performance by Midland.
Twenty two chefs and their teams from national chains to local restaurants competed to win The Very Best Burger award.
We saw some inventive Burgers like the Pig Beach Patty Melt by Pig Beach BBQ in Palm Beach, FL. A Schweid & Sons 100% American Wagyu Beef smash patty with griddled onions, pickles and secret sauce on buttered rye.
We also got to taste the classics like last year’s winners, The “Vice Burger” which is a 5oz 100% American Wagyu Beef Burger on a toasted brioche bun with American cheese, pickles, white onions and of course Vice Sauce.
This year, we had a panel of 6 judges that had to blind taste test the Burgers and give them a score. This years judges were Robert Irvine, Jawan Strader, Phil Rosenthal, Ming Tsai, Nicole Gates and Dave Portnoy. After two hours of Burger tasting, the results were in!
The 2023 Very Best Burger award went to…. Burger Fi for their BBQ Rodeo Burger! [click here to see their announcement] The BBQ Rodeo Burger was made with a fresh all-natural Angus Beef patty with charred jalapenos and pepper jack cheese topped with crispy haystack onions and a drizzle of tangy Memphis sweet BBQ sauce.
