The 10 Killer Bacon Burgers to Rock on International Bacon Day
Traditionally observed on the Saturday before Labor Day, International Bacon Day is the ultimate holiday for bacon enthusiasts. For anyone who’s still in the dark about this delicious treat, here’s a quick history.
Bacon is a meat product often of pork that is usually cured and fried until crispy. Evidence of the consumption of bacon dates back to 1500 B.C.E. in the Roman Empire. Since then, bacon has gone through a few transformations—from originally referring to any pork product, fresh or cured, to bacon in its modern form, a product of the British Isles commonly eaten by peasants during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Bacon on Burgers
Bacon has become a fan favorite Burger topping as well—named the number one protein topping on Burgers in 2016 according to our Burger Trends Report. Bacon has had such a huge surge in popularity over the last few years, in fact, that it’s even seen the advent of bacon-centric dishes and consumer products (bacon toothpaste comes to mind).
