To celebrate National Hamburger Month, Schweid & Sons proudly brings you the 4th Annual NY Burger Week, May 1-7, 2015.

The Burger Week is a 7-day celebration of trendsetting chefs and unique Burgers with a series of daily events.

Eating Burgers is supposed to be fun. They are a treat, a pleasure and something you eat on a special occasion. They’re good for lunch, dinners, birthday’s, anniversary’s, parties, celebrations and can be enjoyed any day, any time, anywhere.

But when it comes to adult beverages, Burgers are usually served in conjunction with beer. That makes sense. We associate Burgers with grilling and pubs which in general kind of lean towards the consumption of beers. It doesn’t have to be that way though!

When we were looking for ideas on how end this year’s NY Burger Week, we thought wouldn’t it be fun to pair up Burgers, Champagne and other Bubbly’s? It most certainly would! Thankfully the fantastic people at New York Burger Co were as excited about the idea as we were, if not more so!

New York Burger Co (2678 6th Ave) will host a very unique and delicious event on Thursday, May 7th as the finale of the 4th Annual NY Burger Week. New York Burger Co in conjunction with Baron Francois have come up with the ultimate Burger and Bubbly pairing. You’ll taste through 4 courses of food, including 1 off-menu Burger, from New York Burger Co while tasting an expertly paired Champagne, Sparking Wine or Prosecco with each course. The tastings will be lead by an expert wine taster from Baron Francois.

Representatives from New York Burger Co & Schweid & Sons will be hand to talk about the menu and the ground beef.

The Pairings:

  • Chicken Minis paired with a bubbly cocktail made with Cuvee des Barons – Blancs de Blancs
  • Tribeca Burger – blue cheese, bacon, avocado paired with Prosecco Di Maria
  • Chelsea Burger – cheddar, bacon, 1000 island paired with Antech Emotion Blanquette de Limoux Rose
  • Chorizo Burger (Off-Menu): havarti, chorizo, sriracha aioli paired with Jaillance Cuvee Imperial


People walking down Avenue of the Americas that passed by New York Burger Co during the event were treated to quite the site; a window fill of Bubbly’s! Not only was it the easiest place to serve from but it created a fun photo scene, the likes of which you would only see in New York.

For the event we were joined by Yann Mamelok from Baron Francois, a wine expert who worked diligently with Christos Zisimatos from New York Burger Co on the menu pairings. Christos designed the food menu, including the off-menu Chorizo Burger. The two of them sat together tasting the Burgers and Yan suggested pairings that he thought would best accent the flavor combinations created by the beef and the toppings.

Each of the Burgers served was made with The All Natural blend from Schweid & Sons. It’s a blend made using only Family farm raised, Certified Humane, all natural ground beef.

Tribeca Burger – blue cheese, bacon, avocado paired with Prosecco Di Maria

Chelsea Burger – cheddar, bacon, 1000 island paired with Antech Emotion Blanquette de Limoux Rose
Chorizo Burger (Off-Menu): havarti, chorizo, sriracha aioli paired with Jaillance Cuvee Imperial


That was so awesome! Thank you to everyone who attended. We designed this event with the idea that it would be really energetic and lightly spirited. It was also kept to a very small seating so that each we could spend time with each of you and make sure we could answer any questions you had about the beef, the Burgers, the restaurant and the wines. I know we had a blast and it seems like you did too. Thanks for being really engaged and having a great time. Thank you to Yan from Baron Francois. Your pairings were what really made this a special event. It was obvious that you took the time to really consider how the food was made the overall flavor profiles. It was unanimous, the Chorizo Burger paired with the Jaillance Cuvee Imperial was a festival of delightful tastes. Let’s do this again. Christos! You are the man! Thank you for being so engaged in this idea and coming up with really delicious and complex Burgers for everyone to enjoy. Thank you also to the entire staff of New York Burger Co. Adding a 4 course wine serving to table service on top of your already very busy day was asking a lot and you absolutely displayed the highest levels of customer service.
