If you’re a true beer nerd or curious to learn more about craft beer in NYC, Beer Culture is your kind of place. They always have a great selection of rotating fresh craft beer on tap including a constant line up of local beers. If you’re really into something or curious to taste something else, head to the back of the bar where they also have a huge selection of American and beers from around the world available to purchase as packaged goods. If you’re into whiskeys, they always have a well curated list of tasty bourbons and whiskeys.
And if that’s not enough reason for you to check out the place, then the food should be. Beer Culture has a quite the menu of tasty bar snacks including pressed sandwiches, sausages, meet and cheese plates and of course, mini Burgers! At Beer Culture they use our Certified Angus Beef Butcher’s Blend, a proprietary blend of Certified Angus Beef including premium cuts of chuck, round and sirloin. The Boozy Burger Brunch is how the Burger Week was born and is the signature event of Burger Week and that’s why we were honored to work with Beer Culture to bring it to you for this year’s Burger Week.

Join Beer Culture for a very special Burger & Beer pairing brunch with Schweid & Sons.
You’ll get taste 3 different mini-Burgers made with 3 different types of Schweid & Sons gourmet ground beef. All 3 Burgers will be made the same way so that you’ll get to the taste and learn about the different types of blends. All 3 Burgers will be made with different blends of Certified Angus Beef®.
- The CAB Butcher’s Blend – Schweid & Sons own proprietary blend of Certified Angus Beef® cuts of chuck, round and sirloin.
- The One Pecenter – Certified Angus Beef®, USDA Prime chuck. Only 1.5% of the cattle in the US grade at both CAB and USDA Prime.
- The CAB Custom Blend: Chuck Brisket – A custom blend best cuts of Certified Angus Beef® chuck and brisket.
Each of the 3 Burgers will be accompanied by either a craft beer from Two Roads or a whiskey from Heaven Hill. A representative from Two Roads and Heaven Hill will be on hand to walk you through tasting each of the drinks. A representative from Schweid & Sons will be on hand to give you a brief education on each of the Burgers as well what is Certified Angus Beef®.
What we were really doing at this event was tasting the difference between different types of Certified Angus Beef® and explaining to everyone what is Certified Angus Beef®. CAB is a not for profit business that works with family owned farms and the USDA to certify beef that has superior taste. They established and maintain a list of 10 quality specifications that the USDA uses to grade beef as being CAB® worthy. Certified Angus Beef® makes for very, very delicious Burgers!
3 year Burger Week veteran, Jessica Partington aka “Bourbon Jess,” shared the history of Heaven Hill and educated everyone on the history of both brands before walking everyone through a whiskey tasting.
The Two Roads Beers:
John Kleinchester from Two Roads Brewery gave everyone a little history and background on the brewery and then walked everyone through a tasting of both beers. What made the pairing so unique was that the Igor’s Dream is aged in Rye barrels and guests were able to taste it along side the Rittenhouse Rye whiskey to get a sense of what the aging does to the beer.
Thank you to Matt, Peter and all the folks at Beer Culture. You guys have an awesome business and your dedication to our ground beef is certainly not lost on us. When we see how much curation you put into everything you do, it only makes sense that you would want to use Certified Angus Beef®. Thanks to John Kleinchester and all at Two Roads for not only making some darn fine tasting beers but for helping us to have 2 very tasty rare beers for the event. This is the 3rd year in a row we’ve been able to work with Bourbon Jess during the Burger Week and it wouldn’t be the same without her. Never has this been more apparent than at this event as we had several couples attend who said they’ve been to everyone she has been a part of. You’re the best Jessica, thank you. Lastly and most importantly, thank you to all the guests who came out and enjoyed the tasting. Hopefully you gained some education about all the products served while having a good time.
